Dental Implants are metal posts or frames (these are tooth roots), surgically positioned into the jawbone underneath the gum line that allows the dentist to mount replacement teeth or bridge into that area.
Implants cannot come loose or drop like a denture. Unlike dentures, implants do not need support of adjacent teeth or damage adjacent teeth. Thus implants improve overall general oral health.
However, dental implants cannot be mounted for every patient. There are certain requirements to mount dental implants.
1) You need to have healthy gums.
2) You need to have adequate bone to support it.
3) You might need a bone graft, if your bone height in the upper jaw or the sinuses are too close to the jaw.
4) You might require a sinus lift.
When you contact our dentists at MaxiDent Dental Hospital, our doctors will do all the required diagnosis to make sure that you are fit for getting dental implants. After proper initial consultation, your doctor will decide and discuss with you about possibility of mounting replacement teeth.
At MaxiDent Dental Hospital, we offer various periodontal treatments which will help you restore your oral health in right way.
Single Dental (Tooth) Implant:
These are used in people who are missing one or more teeth. Your dental surgeon will make an opening in your jawbone and mounts a dental implant. This single tooth implant will act as a root for the crown that will replaces the missing tooth.
There are two ways to fix your replacement teeth. In the traditional method the implant is mounted first and then crown is placed on after few months. Traditional process takes a lot of time (usually 5 months to 1 year).
However now, immediate loading implants are used in most cases where the implant and healing caps are placed at the same time. Your dentist will decide which is the best process to implement for your treatment after detailed review of your CT and X -rays reports.
A single tooth implant can last as long as 25 years, if proper oral hygiene is done. Do not forget to have regular checkups with your dentists as recommended. This will enhance the longevity of your dental implants as your dentists can identify potential oral health issues and treat them at right time.
Full Mouth Dental Implants:
If you are missing all of your teeth, an implant supported full bridge or full denture can replace them. They will replace both your natural teeth and some of the roots.
Advantages of full mouth implants over dentures of bridges:
a) Look and function like natural tooth.
b) Long lasting, durable and esthetically best.
c) No bone deterioration.
d) Keeps you bone healthy and intact.
e) Easy to maintain and stronger than conventional dentures.
f) Implants are mounted on the jaw bone, thus they are like permanent; making it easier to clean them like natural teeth.
Most of the patients, may be thinking about the cost of teeth implants, definitely implants are costly and but they offer a permanent solution and offer long term savings considering their longevity.
